Individual citizens and minority classes are the “parts” of the “whole” of the nation. The power of the parts, relative to each other, converge on the left half of the bell curve, where the focus is on the interests of the whole, and diverge on the right half, where the focus is on the interests of individuals. In other words, there’s less disparity in power between the nation’s parts on the left, and more disparity on the right. There would be no political or economic inequality between a nation’s citizens at the extreme left, and extreme political and/or economic inequality at the extreme right. Neither extreme is desirable in good government.
The “accommometer” doesn’t consider the size of the circle of accommodation, nor the size of the zone of assimilation around it (see the Venn diagram “eye model” down below). This image only represents the first of two paths to gullibility: too much “yes-saying” (receptivity) or “no-saying” (non-receptivity) to external information. The other gullibility path, not represented in this image, regards narrow accommodation — having a very small circle or “tiny bubble” of accommodation. Both paths of gullibility are involved in a SMALL circle of EXCESS accommodation. Minds that are NARROWLY and EXCESSIVELY accommodative are extremely easy to manipulate. For example, a voter or a hypnotized subject with a narrow and intense frame of reference can be easily induced to quack like a chicken, forget their own name, believe the hypnotist is naked, or admire the glory of “the emperor’s new clothes.”
Human minds rely upon their environment to get error-correcting information, to determine right from wrong regarding facts, logic, and social behaviors. Using the wrong answer key for a given situation is a major cause of poor governance. The wrong answer key, obviously, provides the wrong answers for a given situation. Although Public Opinion is the basis for popular elections and feels socially just and fair, it is often relied upon at times when when the Reality, Logic, or Legal answer keys are more appropriate. One doesn’t use a bathroom scale to measure height, and likewise, one shouldn’t rely on Public Opinion to settle questions of Reality, Logic, Legality, or Morality. Comedian John Oliver remarked on the absurdity of using public opinion polls to address question of climate change: “You don’t need people’s opinions on a fact. You might as well have a poll asking which number is bigger, 15 or 5? or do owls exist? or, are there hats?” We should always use the answer key that’s most appropriate for what we’re trying to measure.
Part of the decision flowchart of the “Grand Synthesis Parts Finder,” a pigeonholing scheme for categorizing ideas contained in Circles Theory. Author’s remark: “It reminds me of a coin sorter bank that my dad gave me when I was about four years old. I loved watching the quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies drop into their appropriate slots. It was fascinating to see randomness become order.”The colors blue and red (pink) in the table above correspond to those used in the Venn diagram below:A bigger blue “pupil” indicates broader receptivity toward external Reality, Logic, and Social information. This big circle suggests a broad area of awareness of the RLS environment, one that focuses more on the whole than on the parts. A small blue circle suggests more “zooming-in,” or mental concentration, on parts instead of the whole. A large red “iris” indicates the mind rejecting more external information toward the periphery of the environment, while also receiving more internal information from Nature and Nurture within itself. The mind projects this internal information outward, to interpret, predict, and control the RLS environment. It controls the environment in three different ways: by “Fixing,” “Fighting,” and “Fleeing.” The “white of the eye” represents the degree to which the mind has blocked out the environment altogether, neither receiving information from it (the blue circle), nor sending information out to it (the red zone), but rather, just recirculating information within itself in recursive processing activities.
Accommodation word cloud: Feelings and emotions associated with cognitive accommodation to the Reality-Logic-Social environment.
